Welcome to The Hedge Witch & The Medicine Man
I'm Kerry and my husband is David. Three days ago we found out our true path way, hence the name of this blog. We officially became pagans in my eyes the day we had our hand fasting. Which was 2 years ago. Before the hand fasting I suffered with depression and rarely left the house. On the day of the hand fasting I made three promises that day. One was to my gods and goddesses, and it was for me to be the best person I can be. My second was to my high priestess, and that was to walk down to my garden every morning and say my good mornings to my gods and goddesses. The third was to my husband David, and well that's between me and him.
I've kept my promises ever since and I have slowly discovered my purpose in life. I've been down to my garden everyday to say my good mornings and I've become friendly with the amazing tree down there. In the spring it gets the most amazing blossom which fills the garden. I saved this tree from being taken from my garden. I live at the back of a local fishing damn, and they was putting metal fences around the area to make it more private. They got to mine and I refused to let them take my tree. They went around it. I talk to that tree daily and everyday I tell that beauty to grow. She is. She had an area which was dead and slowly she has grown new babies and they are reaching to the gods. I believe with all my heart that I've helped in my own little way. One day I will take a branch and turn her into a beautiful wand.
I've never been sure of my path way and I've been asking for guidance from my high priestess for the past 10 months or so. We've been talking about things and discussing what we are both into. I guess she was thinking about the right path for me, when a branch landed at her feet. The answer was clear to her. She turned that branch into the most amazing wand for me. She prepared it, added the 7 oils to it, put in under the full moon, it spent a day in the sunlight and then it was fire treated. It smells and looks amazing. I was also given a piece of silk to make a pouch to store it in. I've been told what i need to do with it each full moon and I'm excited to get to know it. I say it as I'm not sure of what this beauty is yet. I'm hoping to decorate it with copper wire and stones I have.
David was on his path way before, but he walked away from it. He broke his promises to his gods and walked away. Our high priestess wasn't impressed with him, but when we asked her to do the hand fasting, she agreed straight away. He was back in her good books. He also promised to walk down the garden and say his good mornings to his gods daily. He goes down separately from me, what he says to his gods is his business and we never ask each other what was said. Dave to wasn't sure of what path was right for him as he'd walked away the first time and didn't know if the gods would allow it again. He to talked it over with our high priestess, and hedge witch was maybe an answer. He was on the Native American path previously and still related to that, so medicine man was thrown in the mix. He loves the thought of it and after talking about what a medicine man does and what a hedge witch does it does fit us both well. We'll both be dealing with the garden but in different ways.
This blog is a way for us to document our path way and to maybe help others along the way. I'll post our progress and what we have learned as we go along. I'll post pictures of things we grow and things we make. I'll also post anything that I find of interest, that might help us and anyone else along the way.
